Platelet rich plasma (PRP), is a substance thought to promote healing and growth when injected.
Plasma is an element of your blood that contains growth factors and also aid your blood in the clotting process.
PRP contains proteins that support cell growth.
Our PRP treatments derive from researchers who produced PRP by isolating plasma from blood and continuing to concentrate it.
Injecting PRP to damaged or sluggish tissues will stimulate your system to grow new, healthy cells alongside increase and promote collagen production and aid healing from any connective tissue trauma.
The growth factors in PRP are more concentrated when extracted from the blood and research has observed many elements of body tissue healing and regenerating.
The treatment hasn't been definitively proven however it has very high recommendations based on extensive world wide studies and treatment results.
PRP is a holistic treatment approach that aids many different issues and ailments. Examples of PRP use in rehabilitation can be seen in cases such as injury recovery in famous athletes such as Tier Woods and tennis star Rafael Nadal.
Currently medical research is examining PRP practice in the hope to definitively roll out a scientific research certificate into the abilities of PRP in the human body.
What is PRP used for?
There are so many areas in which PRP can be used that the list is not nearly encompassing them all.
Important
It is extremely important for clients to note that no aesthetic treatment is a "One size fits all" - this is the same in almost everything in life and what I endeavour to educate my clients with every treatment I carry out.
As with medications; cosmetics; hair products; toothpaste and so on, one may work better for you than another and yet your friend may prefer yet another brand or approach - this is why there are so many treatment variants and providers out there.
As the Advanced Aesthetic Clinician of Revamp Aesthetic I can only speak for myself - I have a strict policy that I will only include treatments and products in my clinic that I personally have seen amazing results from and PRP treatments are one of them.
The PRP process...
PRP can be injected in different ways AND may occasionally be administered post-dermal rolling.
Occasionally, if required, a topical numbing solution is applied prior to treatment - this is not an absolutely necessary.
Similarly, occasionally a local anaesthetic may be mixed with the PRP to reduce discomfort.
Normally the actual administering side of the treatment may range between 40-75 minutes (estimation). The extraction; numbing and preparing will take additional time. It is recommended you set aside between 90-120 minutes for your appointment (estimation).
Potential side effects of PRP...
PRP is autologous - it contains substances that come directly from your own body. Autologous substances reduce and 99.9% reduce the risk of any allergic reaction in comparison to injections of commercially produced/enhanced products such as cortisone or hyaluronic acid.
There are risks from the injection procedure as there is with any injections including -
The above mentioned risks will be fully covered in your consultation and aftercare.
Recovery time for PRP...
It is recommended to rest the area (this recommendation is based on PRP for rehabilitation of injury).
Most people continue their daily activities as part of course post-treatment.
PRP treatments are not one of our instant result treatments (you wont look in the mirror and see instant results).
Think of PRP in the way of fertiliser to a plant. Fertilising your plant wont make it grow and flourish on the spot. Your plant needs regular feeds and over time the plant will thrive and become twice as big, strong and productive than other plants which have not been routinely fed - this is exactly how PRP works with your body.
If you are one of the many clients that PRP works fantastically for you will notice in several weeks/months that the area treated is healing faster, growing more hair, tightening, smoothing out and more (dependant on the treatment you have had).
It is a certainty that you will have more biorevitalisation than you would have had without the PRP treatment - results are completely dependant on how much of a fit PRP is with your body.
As with all Revamp Aesthetic treatments/procedures Jade will advise you if she thinks your choice of treatment is recommended for the issue you wish to help.
The face...
Features are made up of scaffolding structures - the main one being the bone structure. Muscle, Collagen and Elastin are the secondary elements of scaffolding. The tissues that rest on your bone structure are the tissues we want to thrive - if these thrive it makes more superficial skin treatments more effective. As we age its only natural that we lose the fantastic amount of Collagen and elastin our bodies generated in our younger years so how do we reverse aging tissues? Regenerate the Collagen an Elastin and that is EXACTLY what PRP does.
Fat-pad displacement through the effects of ageing and gravity can also make us appear older and that is most likely to be the issue for clients who come for treatments saying things like "I hate the sagging" or "I need rid of these jowls". We fill the fat-pad gaps with a suitable filler to create that strong base scaffolding and from there the best course of action would be a few PRP treatments to boost the Collagen and Elastin production over and round your base scaffolding.
Haven't I heard of PRP before?
It is likely you have heard about or seen the "horror pictures" of Kim Kardashian after a "Vampire Facial" which yes, is a form of PRP treatment however this IS NOT what to expect from 99% of PRP treatments.
Kim K had a very specific treatment and as I previously mentioned, not all treatments are the same or administered in the same fashion.
Yes, we can do some deeper and more invasive PRP work but there is absolutely no need to go to those measures - especially as PRP works like that fertiliser we mentioned before... One big feed/treatment is "OK"... A course of continuous feeding/treatments is when the magic happens.
Have faith and trust the process...
If we at Revamp Aesthetic hadn't seen and personally experienced the benefits of PRP it would not be included on our treatment list. We are firm believers in only promoting and practicing treatments we know work from first hand experience.
